The fifth annual Taste of Cardiff was held this Thursday. These events, held in various cities by that cities Main Street organization, are designed to allow the community to come out enjoy sample offerings from local restaurants, brewers and wine makers. Attendees receive a map of the participating businesses that also acts as a punch card and then walk the area from station to station sampling food and drink. It is a great way to get people not only to discover the participating restaurants and breweries but also expose people to the Main street area as a whole.
Members of Main Street Oceanside (the organization I volunteer with) attended as a “research” trip in order to get ideas and see opportunities for a Taste of Oceanside event we want to hold in the fall.
Here are pictures of some of the vendors we tried
VG Donut & Bakery (why not start with dessert)
Flat Rock Eats and Drinks ~ Ceviche
Rimel’s Rotisserie and Zenbu Sushi ~ Chicken and Vegetable pot stickers w / green chili garlic sauce and Salmon Poke.
They also have several local band playing throughout the venue.
There were about 20 participating restaurants and 9 or so Breweries that participated.
All in all I enjoyed myself. All the food I tried was good, I will be going back to eat at Rimel’s for sure and maybe a couple others.
If you see a Taste of Event in your city I would check it out.
