So, I was the fortunate recipient of a gift certificate to The Land & Water Co. in Carlsbad. I thought I would take the opportunity to try out a few of the dishes I missed last time.
You can read about my previous visit here.
It was a great day to sit on the patio and enjoy some great food.
Finger Roll ~ sashimi poke, cucumber wrap, Haas avocado, bonito flake, house-pickled ginger.
Really nice and refreshing dish with a lot of flavor.
Crispy Beef Skewer ~ 5-hour-braised lengua, pickled daikon, tsume, horseradish qp.
This was my favorite dish. The lengua had almost a dry beef jerky like exterior but was so tender and flavorful. The sauce was a great addition as well.
So this is what a Ling Cod looks like..
luckily they taste much better than they look.
Selected-At-Sea-Fish Sandwich ~ Ling Cod, Horny Devil beer batter, red pepper rouille, kimchi, artisan brioche bun, house-made Kennebec potato chips.
By this time I was pretty full so I forewent the bun. The fish was cooked perfectly, crisp batter and moist flesh.
I have also learned that the Kennebec potato is thee potato for fries or chips, they just work so well.
So, a really nice lunch and thanks to the Chef who gave me the gift certificate…food is such a better gift than socks.
