After the blitzkrieg Summer of openings things have slowed a bit but we still have a few places of note to look forward to.
The most exciting thing is that all three of these places have chosen Oceanside. Two years ago they would have looked for another suburb of San Diego as their target market.
First off is Barrel Republic a self-serve tap-room with 40 beers on tap. They currently have a succesful location in Pacific Beach. The system operates on an electronic wristband system. You open a tab receive your wrist band and pay by the ounce you pour. This gives you the option to have a full beer or a taste and you pay accordingly.
The construction has begun for Barrel Republic’s Oceanside location
Barrel Republic Pacific Beach
Barrel Republic will be taking over the old Murphy’s Law / Pizzeria Venti location at 215 N. Coast Highway. This spot has seen a lot of businesses hopefully with their track record in Pacific Beach they can make it work.
The second business opening is Banana Dang a coffee and smoothie bar. They serve an array of coffee drinks and banana based smoothies as well as toasts ( like the Nutty Banana—peanut butter, banana, honey) and pastry. Their original shop was in Rincon Puerto Rico and in 2014 they will be moving to Oceanside at 115 S. Coast Highway next to Beauty 101 Salon.

The third is an upcoming restaurant I have mentioned before BLVD. Chinese Kitchen and Sake Bar moving into the old Fish Joint Location. They will be serving fusion style chinese tapas and sake. I have talked with the chef via email a few times (Alfred Sheik) and am very excited for this restaurant. hopefully we will see it after the new year.
The sign is up. One step closer to interesting Chinese fusion in Oceanside.
Rumors ~ Heavenly Desserts will be moving into the old Mexican market near harbor Freight Tools at the top of Pier View Way. Though no construction has started.
The old Gun Shop is for sale at the corner of Mission and Coast Highway there has been talk that Swami’s is interested in the spot but at probably $2 mil for the space and then a complete build out to have a kitchen I kind of doubt that. though some restaurant needs to grab that it’s a prime location. Dear, Matt Gordon (Urban Solace, Solace and Moonlight lounge, Sea and Smoke) you need an Oceanside based restaurant.
