Oceanside Coffee Shop Enters Latte Art Throwdown

This is cool for a number of reasons. One I did not know these competitions existed, and two one of our new members to the food community participated. Also they are creeping north (  like Khaleesi’s army in Game Of Thrones ). Hopefully we will see one of these competitions in Oceanside soon.

Here is the word on the event from the man himself.

Banana Dang Coffee in downtown Oceanside joined an evening of latte art slinging at Bean Bar in SD East Village on Thursday, Feb. 26. Event was dubbed “Thursday Night Throwdown” and featured over 40 baristas in San Diego and Orange County who got down pouring their best latte art into 3 different cup sizes—4 oz (Gibraltar)  6oz (Cappuccino), 12oz (Latte) for a grand prize of straight up cash.

This was the first time Banana Dang’s barista, Mario Jimenez, competed in the Throwdown. “It was a real pleasure to see San Diego’s emerging coffee community come together for a night of fun. It wasn’t about competing as much as a social gathering of like-minded coffee fans.”
