Stone Company Store, Oceanside

Last night I visited the one of my favorite beer spots in north county, the Stone Company Store in Oceanside. You seem to stumble upon this place, which lacks any signage while strolling down the street. When you enter you walk through a walkway that leads to a seating area with hearty oak chairs, stone fire pits and succulent walls. If you have every been to a Stone location, it very  much fits the typical style.

As with each of their tasting rooms, they often feature limited release beers brewed at both the Liberty Station and Escondido locations. Today’s selection was phenomenal.

I started off with one of my favorite IPAs that Stone has ever produced, Stone Delicious.

Beer menu at Stone in Oceanside

Stone Delicious IPA- This IPA is made with four different hops. It has a delightful citrus aroma, a hoppy forward taste, and a lemony sweet finish. This comes from the lemondrop and el dorado hops that are featured in this brew.

Next I tried the Sorry Not Sorry IPA- This beer is a collaboration between Stone, 4 Hands Brewing Co., and Bale Breaker Brewing Co. This IPA, made with peach puree, has a piney taste to it at first and a sweet peach finish. Definitely worth a tasting or two.

Lastly, I tried the Xocoveza Charred- which was sooooooooo stinkin’ delicious I can’t even tell you all. I have always been a fan of Stone’s Xocoveza mocha stout that is released every year. The Charred version, however is aged in bourbon barrels. Now, I am not typically one for bourbon barrel aged beer, probably because i hate bourbon. However, this beer is so so smooth. The barrels give it a distinct coconut flavor which makes this beer taste like the most delicious almond joy you could possibly imagine. Sadly, they limit this beer to one taster per person per day. Luckily they were selling bottles at the tasting room. I may have bought a few. Seriously though, go try it.

Oh the bottles…

One added bonus of this location is that it is right in the heart of the Sunset Market every Thursday night in Oceanside. If you are ever there on Thursday nights it is a fantastic place to get some street food and go enjoy it with some beers by the fire. A perfect Thursday night if I do say so myself.
